"If I had wings we'd never be apart,
I'd keep you with me, always in my heart.

If I had wings you'd never know pain,
I'd shelter you from the earth, the fire, and the rain.

But I'm not an Angel as you can see
and although I want to I may never be.

So all I can do is pray for these things,
these things that I would give you if only I had wings."

Something Mom told me about that I'm not sure she's told anyone else about. I'm not sure how it came up, but when she was little there weren't any ice cream trucks yet. You know, "The ice cream man is coming!" Back then, there were still horse-drawn ice trucks delivering ice cut from the river for people who had ice boxes as refridgerators were still a pretty new thing. When the ice man came, there were always ice chips in the summer that he would give to the kids...they would have a huge chunk of fresh ice in the hot summer sun and pet the horses...how cold it would be on the hands...
The story about Mom following Nono around, the part I hadn't mentioned yet, she told me when she was little, she stuck her arm in a gallon of paint while Nono was outside painting. He said 'You mother going to kill me!" and started cleaning her up with gasoline. Funny thing, Mom doesn't know it, but I did the exact same thing when I was little, I followed Nono around and stuck my arm in the bucket of paint he was using. What did he do? "You Noni gonna kill me!" Out came the gasoline...*LOL*
Hi everyone,

It's late, but just felt the need to share this evenings events!

Tonite for the first time, mom and I had a QUALITY evening. We shared one of our old time favorite snacks and good stories. (what a differance some help makes) and its not even here yet! I am just relieved in the knowing.

We had crackers w/smoked oysters (Dan and Jeff never got past the smell)and Port wine cheese w/ crackers. Over this wonderful delicacy we shared a long forgotten story.

When I was in the fifth grade I was in Girl Scouts. We had a weekend camping trip come up. We needed adult volenteers in order to make the trip happen. In addition to, a few addtional camping supplies. Since mom had always taken us camping and had lots of tents and supplies I figured she wouldn't mind. She had been a Den mother to Dan's boy scout troop years earlier and seemed to enjoy it. Soooo, I just went ahead and volenteered her. I was so excited with my decision, and just knew mom would love it too. When I raced home to tell her, I could see that possibly she wasn't as excited as I had thought she would (should) be. But between grimiced teeth and seeing my excitement she gracefully accepted. The weekend went off wonderful! I was just a little discouraged actually that her and the other leader seemed to hit it off and converse more than mom and I. I mean it was MY weekend. Then they had the nerve to even share a pup tent and co! ntinue there new found friendship into the wee hours of the morning. To make matters worse they didn't even EMERGE until hours after everyone else. I played with my friends and was happy mom actually enjoyed what I had submitted her to. After packing up and riding home with her, she seemed a little tired.

Years had passed. One day we brought up my volenteering her without her permission. (I must of been ready to do it again) I mentioned the "oh so" delightful camping trip. And asked about the fun she had. She said it was great. But the hours spent in the tent with the other leader was actually the highlight of the trip. I asked why? She said it was the conversation, and pint of PEPPERMINT SCHNAPPS ,that she and SISTER MARIA had shared.

I went to a catholic school!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dan in writing this, I thought it would be great to start some kind of something that ALL friends and family could come and visit to share and compile, special memories, thoughts, ideas, etc. Your the puter wiz! Not me. What do you think?

I will sleep well tonite!!!! BIG SMILE!!

I remember Mom telling me as a child how she'd follow her Dad, (Nono) all over the place when he was doing chores around the house. She even followed him up on the roof as a little girl!
These are some of our treasures....
